What is
Biofeedback?
Have you ever heard of a lie
detector? It is a biofeedback device used to determine if a person is
telling the truth. You can check it for accuracy by asking the
person's name. A true answer will show a balanced response on the
meter, while a false answer will show an unbalanced response.
This works in a similar fashion
for your nutritional, physical, and emotional needs also. Your body
knows the answers, and can communicate those answers through
biofeedback.
How Does Biofeedback
Work?
Biofeedback is a complex topic
to understand, however an analogy to something we are all familiar
with may help.
Sonar is a technology used in
submarines to gather information. For bats, dolphins, and other
animals, this ability is built-in. A type of sound wave is sent out,
and when it meets an obstacle, it bounces back to the sender. The
return signal can tell the sender something about what's out there. In
the case of a bat, it may be dinner. For a submarine, it may be
information about the contour of the ocean bottom.
Biofeedback is a little like
sonar, but much more sophisticated. Each signal that is sent out
carries a unique vibrational resonance. These resonances are the
"signatures" of things like vitamins, minerals, enzymes, organs,
systems, nerves, and other parts of your body. In addition, there are
resonances for antibiotics, viruses, bacteria, parasites, molds &
fungi, pesticides and other things that you may come in contact with
on a regular basis. When a `sent' signature meets with a similar
resonance in your body, it sends back a recognition signal.
What does Biofeedback
tell you?
According to Dr. Richard Gerber,
M.D. in his landmark book, Vibrational Medicine, the
acupuncture meridians are the conduits of energy flow that make up a
subtle energetic network. It has been demonstrated that the electrical
characteristics of the meridians, as measured through the acupoints,
contain important information about the status of the body's internal
organs.
Gerber points out that the
subtle energies flowing through the meridians are not electrical in
nature, but are able to induce electrical fields and currents because
of their magnetic properties; these energies are a manifestation of
the life-force which animates and energizes living systems. He goes on
to state that when this flow of energy in the meridian to a particular
organ is deficient or unbalanced, patterns of cellular disruption
occur.
The meridian system is, then, to
the flow of energy what the circulatory system is to the flow of
blood, what the nervous system is to the flow of nerve impulses, and
what the lymphatic system is to the flow of lymphatic fluid. The
energy in the meridians is information for every organ, gland, or
tissue along that meridian on how it is to function.
Through advances in technology,
a naturopathic practitioner can tap into your body's own communication
pathways to discover stresses on the various organs and systems. This
will assist the practitioner in establishing a protocol to bring your
body back into balance, and thus, back onto the road towards good
health.
Can Biofeedback benefit
me?
The data gathered by this kind
of inquiry can give your health practitioner a very clear picture of
the issues that your body is dealing with. For example, you may think
that you have an allergy, and that it originates in your lungs, but
your body may say, through biofeedback, that the problem originates in
your intestines and may be the result of an overly permeable gut
lining.
With this kind of information, a
tailored program of nutritional support, enzyme therapy, and other
changes can be developed. By focusing on your body's relevant issues,
and giving it the kind of nutritional and other support it needs, you
can recover energy, vitality, and deal with problem issues in order to
attain a healthier you. |
